Re: AMI Water Meter Installation
Dear Swanton Village Water Customer
The Village of Swanton, along with A. Cooper Mechanical, has been working on calling, scheduling and installing new AMI Water Meters for our water customers. For those we haven’t been able to reach by phone, a door knocker was left at your residence, or an informational flyer was mailed to you.
If you still haven’t called the Village back to schedule your appointment for the new water meter, please do so now because effective January 1, 2026 an extra fee will be added to your monthly water/sewer bill. The Village Board of Trustees approved and adopted a policy on October 27, 2025, allowing the Village to charge an extra $50 monthly fee on your water charge as well as a $50 monthly fee on your sewer charge. You can avoid this charge altogether by scheduling your meter exchange today by calling us at the Village Office, 802-868-3397.
This extra fee that will be charged monthly will be used to pay for the software program it takes to manually read your meter each month. The Village would be able to eliminate that software program permanently if everyone has a new AMI meter.
