The Village of Swanton is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to join our Public Works Department. This position plays an important role in maintaining the Village’s infrastructure and providing essential services to the community year-round.

The successful candidate will assist with a wide variety of public works operations, including snow plowing and winter road maintenance; maintenance of Village streets, sidewalks and parks; operation and maintenance of heavy equipment; water and wastewater line maintenance and repairs; and general labor supporting department operations. This position is part of the on-call rotation for night, weekend and holiday call-ins.  The selected candidate is expected to perform all job functions of the department on a regular basis.

High school diploma or equivalent required. A clean driving record, strong work ethic and dependability required. A Commercial Driver’s License is strongly preferred or ability to obtain one. Experience in snow plowing, water/wastewater line work is a plus.  Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions.

The Village of Swanton is accepting applications for a full time Hydro Power Plant Operator at our Orman Croft Generation Station. Requirements of the job include but are not limited to; daily operation of power plant equipment, to include meter and information logging and reporting requirements, dispatching, light maintenance, and monitoring equipment. Knowledge of electrical theory and computers would be an advantage.

High school graduate or equivalent required. Must be able to multi-task, work flexible hours, work independently and be dependable.

Pay range $20.00 - $25.00 per hour with a .75 shift differential for 2^nd and 3^rd shift.
