Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

Since January 1, 2026, the operators at the Village of Swanton Water Treatment Facility have been working extensively on plant improvements, upgrades, and preventative maintenance projects to ensure continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to the residents of Swanton Village.

 Recent Upgrades & Improvements

  • Installed a new chlorine analyzer and controller to improve disinfection monitoring and accuracy.
  • Installed a new Stenner pump for the turbidity meter to enhance water quality measurement reliability.
  • Added a new fluoride saturation tank and supply system, acquired at no cost through the State of Vermont Fluoride Program.
  • Painted the entire main level and facility rooms, improving both working conditions and plant appearance.
  • Installed 6 of 12 new chemical feed pumps. The remaining pumps will be installed once the new SCADA system arrives later in 2026.

Infrastructure Improvements

Low Lift Station

  • Phasing out aging and failing equipment.
  • Installed new motors and vacuum relief valves to improve performance and reliability.

High Lift Station

  • A motor replacement is scheduled for 2026.
  • A new VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) cabinet will also be installed to increase efficiency and operational control.

UV Disinfection System

A service agreement has been scheduled with Trojan Technologies for maintenance of the facility’s UV disinfection system. This service plan will be implemented again in 2026 to ensure optimal system performance and regulatory compliance. This will allow us to have the maximum disinfection processes the treatment plant can provide along with chlorine.

The operators at the Village of Swanton Water Treatment Facility strive daily to achieve maximum efficiency and operational excellence while delivering safe, high-quality drinking water to the residents of Swanton Village.
