ACRE Program **Affordable Community Renewable Energy
You may qualify for a $29.55 credit on your electric bill.
It is completely free to apply for and participate in ACRE. There are no fees, no equipment, and nothing added to your bill.
There are two eligibility requirements. First, you must be a residential customer of a participating electric utility. Participating utilities include Barton, Enosburg Falls, Hardwick, Jacksonville, Johnson, Ludlow, Lyndon, Morrisville, Northfield, Orleans, and Swanton. Second, your household income must be below 185% of the federal poverty level. Here is the range:
Household of 1: $2,413/month or $28,953/year
Household of 2: $3,260/month or $39,128/year
Household of 3: $4,109/month or $49,303/year
Household of 4: $4,957/month or $59,478/year
Household of 5: $5,805/month or $69,660/year
You will need your Electric bill and basic household income information.
ACRE will not affect your eligibility to receive support from other benefits or programs you receive. You can participate without losing other support.
The Vermont Department of Children and Families will process your application. Your information is secure and only used to determine if you are eligible for ACRE. It is not shared with other agencies or used for purposes outside of ACRE.
As long as the program is active and you remain eligible, you will continue to receive bill credits from ACRE on your electric bill.
